Hello.

Currently run an 06 pathfinder and it died on me this Saturday.

Driving ok hesitated around 2000rpm bit of black smoke out the back revved ok after that, then it stalled and would not restart. I think they use the same engine as a Nivara has anyone had this?

Any idea what it could be

Cheers

Joe

I don't know specifically but my 2 cents - black smoke is usually bad air to fuel ratio so you are looking at injectors, turbo charger, fuel pump, egr valve etc. If it stalled and won't restart I'd probably say it's not the turbo but more likely the fueling. Id expect a bad turbo to run at idle.

I'd replace the fuel filter, ptime it then pull the battery for 30 minutes and hope for the best! After that it's off to the local mechanic.

Cheers for all your help.

I will change the fuel filter then that's about my limit, going to you tube the DPF and see if it's accessible with basic tools and see what it does then if no joy I think it's off to the pro's.

Parked up went for a walk came back. Fired up really quickly moved 3 meters then died fired up after a few turns moved another few meters died again and would not fire up after that.

Update. Went to prime it before jump starting and the primer was sucking in air with a trickle of diesel running off onto the floor. That explains a few things!
