Caraving Stand

Recommended Posts

I just thought I would show you the hydraulic carving stand that I use for carving. Saves a lot of back work and easy to set up.

You just have to tap the two bolts into the bottom of the log and then slot in and fasten with a bolt. This hold the carving nice a firmly, carving only has two holes in the bottom. Its made out of a motorcycle hydraulic bike stand.

That's a great idea, Ive been using a log jaw vice which can be an issue loading with heavier pieces. Noticed recently a couple of carvers have saw attached to a pulley system that takes the weight of the saw when carving over long periods. All clever stuff.

Simon,

I welded a 4 inch self tapping bolt to mine. I put a 3 inch sacrifice board with a hole in the middle over it. I then drill the underside of the log and then screw it onto to the remaining 2 ins of bolt. It works for me ......
