Stihl strimmer reccommendation

Hello

I am looking to supplement my FS55 strimmer with a more powerful option, the problem I have is that I find the FS55 too short and it gives me a bad back after using it for a while.

What does anyone recommend for someone over six foot tall?

I'd go to your local dealer and try some out to see if they are long enough.

Is you 55 loop or cow horn handled?

You shouldn't have to stoop with cow horn handles

No local dealers with full stock to try.

 

It has the cow horn handlebars, but to get the head low for a level cut I have to stoop.

You should be able to alter the height attachment point of your harness . You can on the Husky one any way . It has one point for strimming and another for forestry clearing saw .

Isn't the SF55 classed as a pure "brush saw" for felling small trees rather a brush cutter, hence the short shaft? It may be possible to buy a longer shaft for it. I use a FS460 and its fantastic - I think the 460 is offered in three different shaft lengths, the middle one being the default.

That is one of the options I am looking at, not seen the different shaft lengths though.

Have you adjusted the handles backwards? That will lower the head from a standing position.

I do this when strimming banking

It does, but the angle is then wrong.
