Hedge cutting

It's often thought to be "illegal" but generally it's a confusion with cross compliancy regulations where ag subsidy is being claimed (as Marko posts above) that are being mis applied to domestic or non agricultural situations. There is no law, so far as I can see, that says "thou shall not cut thy hedge."

There are considerations which should be applied whilst cutting said hedge though.

Forget DEFRA their rules only apply to the landowners in the ''scheme''.

Refer to 1997 HEDGEROW REGULATIONS WHICH REFER TO THE COUNTRYSIDE & RIGHTS OF WAY ACT.:confused1:

The act states that if you go out with INTENT TO DESTROY!!!!!

Yes you are right you can cut along a PUBLIC HIGHWAY/PATH ALL YEAR ROUND but surely the owner of the hedge can wait till the end of June/July?

I have started laying hedgerows in August. I have also pointed out to the council bodies and the twitchers the above acts, they then tend to back off.

BUT PLEASE WAIT WHILE THE MAIN NESTING SEASON HAS ENDED :thumbup1:

THANKS FOR THE BIRTHDAY WISHERS:blushing:

I'm pretty sure that this was changed and now you can be prosecuted for "disturbing" nesting birds, be that intentional or not.
