We got asked as they were miles behind with trees that have been condemned, never actually did any work though as it would of meant dropping all of the work we had on "some of which trickles in from various other firms" and starting within 5 days! 1 of the contractors who took it on got less than 20 jobs out of them and then got nowt. Given more notice i would have jumped at the chance, that came through knowing people in the la. Stuff generally comes up for tender and does not always come down to the cheapest quote imo.

Bet you couldn't do cheaper without driving yourself insane. Fixed price schedules of rates are part of the reason you see crap work from experienced contractors.
