Hi I have an entec DH30 chipper (simlar to timberwolf 150)

When using the chipper the revs will drop like it running low on fuel but then pick up again, I have changed the fuel and air filter it seemed to improve a bit but still drops occasionally.

I am about to change the fuel pipe from the tank, when I removed the fuel pipe from the tank I was expecting the diesel to come out but it just dribbles out is this correct ie it needs to be sucked out by the fuel pump or is my tank blocked. Is there a filter in the tank.

Also if i want to clean the tank out whats the best method , I dont want to remove the tank as its a duel tank with the hydraulic oil and dont want to mess with this.

While checking the fuel pipes I noticed the short thinner bit of pipe between the fuel pump and injectors was not mega tight is this part under alot of pressure ie it could be sucking in air or is the pump pumping fuel into the injectors., I will change it any way.

The battery on the chipper needs replacing as its not holding a charge would this have any thing to do with the revs dropping

Sounds like you have crud in the fuel tank, many do have a sieve of some sort in the tank, you can prove (or disprove) this quite simply.

 

Disconnect the tank and give it a quick blast of compressed air in the direction of the tank. This will (should) dislodge anything restricting the tank outlet, if it works you should see a noticeable increase in flow.

 

As for cleaning most mechanics will have a syphon to empty the tank through the filler hole.

Fuel tanks with all chippers will get dirty after a while. Drain the tank completely and clean. Same with the fuel lines. Old fuel lines can collapse as well, so it might do to change them as well.

I had same problem a few year back with my entec, I started a thread I think! I took the fuel tank off cleaned it all out blew all fuel lines through and it ran fine after 👍🏻

Same as my entec, luckily I found a new one from an hire company who use to have a fleet of them and had new tanks made for them all and still had one kicking about .

I had similar recently,did filter,in line filter etc,eventually emptied hydraulic side,removed tank,pressure washed it out and now runs great,a ball aching job but took 3 hours in total

There is usually a filter in the base of the tank which will screw out sometimes part of the outlet tap. Sometimes the fuel uptake is just a pipe which sticks up from the bottom of the tank away from the dregs.

Quite often nowadays a growth of algae type stuff forms in the fuel bits of this can block or partially block the uptake but I have also known bits of rag/tissue floating about in the fuel can cause intermittent blockage and also when an inspection plate has been created (to inspect the tank internally because of previous type problem) is attached to the tank with little bolts sealed with silicon sealer when each bolt is screwed through the hole a little bullet of silicon is created which then floats about in the fuel and get sucked up usually found in the first constriction in the pipe.
