2nd go at carving

So after being banned from carving by the misses a few years ago (for my one tracked mind) I promised not to carve owt obscene and spent an hour or so on this big lump of ash that's been hanging around for a while and thought if I posted pics as it goes on ( for better or worse ) it might motivate me to finish it within a yr or two, and I'm lookin for a bit of inspiration for the rest of it, be as harsh as you like I'm a big boy!

What you got planned for it? Always fancied giving it a go but would just get wound up if I wasn't much good and end up with a pile of firewood

Only you know the image of what you want - it's in your head. Just keep going, who's to say if your right or wrong. The fact your having a go is in itself an achievement, thats what I tell myself...

I'm starting with an owl (that's what it is sposed to b at the mo😳) then I thought maybe some faces in the burred lumps then........logs😀

Another 3hrs, think I need a wee saw n dime bar as it's hard work wi the 560 n 15" bar!

Keep going with your standard bar and chain, if you can carve with that and YOUR pleased with the results then a carving setup will only make you better.

 

Personally I still carve with a Husky 350 on a standard bar, I'm happy with my results and I'm not fired up enough to invest in another saw/bar etc. too many other interests and hobbies but thats just me.
