Only had a couple of hours on mine now, but as above it's not quick enough as a main climbing saw, and also not that light for the power. I'm happy with it for it's intended use, cutting out forks (I know tut tut) and carpentry. Has been a lot better on an 8 inch 043 bar, and as Wolter has said it has a lot of torque, seems to work better when pushed, it's only on an 6 tooth sprocket and I think will happily manage 7 or 8 ona short bar. For the money (~£180) and if you have the lxt batteries already it's a handy buy.

Makita were well ahead of the game with these. Pretty sure it must have been around 18 years ago now when I first saw these being demonstrated at the APF by our very own Craig(judge). Surprising they let Stihl and Husqvarna overtake them when they had such a head start.

Hi all, I bought the Husqvarna T536LiXP about two years ago, and now have a partnership with Makita and was recently loaned the DUC302Z. I've written a comparison report on the two saws which the pros and cons of both saws. Ok, I jumped through the necessary hoops to read the article.

 

I have the husky and like it, the "time out" feature is annoying.

 

Never used the Makita, sounds ok though.

 

Do either of these saws ever kick back? I've never experienced it.

They both have a kickback zone at the end of the bar and although I've never experienced it either, the potential is still there. Obviously with modern 'safety' chains and those low-height cutters, the risk is ever diminishing; although with the slower chain speed I reckon the Makita is more likely to kick back than the Husqvarna... but as I said, I've never had an issue with either saw.
