Well you only got round to asking the question at 1107 about employers liability, and at 1200 you had an answer if you'd read it. Before 1107 it was a bit wishy washy......

On here you get better answers if you ask direct questions, i.e Legally do I need any insurance to get two of my mates to do a job for me in a forest? Then you'd have got a simple answer of yes you do, no need for any other information or justification

Sub contract means you get someoen else (often a tree company) to quote for the work that you have available and then you leave them to do it in there own time and on their insurance.

Getting blokes in to help is different. They woudl be self employed but you need to insure them as employees with liabilty insurance. The self employed bit is more of a tax issue, if they are wokign with you then you are the employer and need insurance.

You are helping to create the very situation about which you are complaining.

If you cut corners to under cut the competition, they are often left with no alternative but to also cut corners to survive. So the situation just gets worse.

Are you paying tax and NI on the money you earn??

I have NO sympathy for the taxi driver, how dare he put other peoples livelihoods at risk for his own gain!!!!

IMHO, any one working without insurance should be ashamed of them selves, I have never and will never work without it.

If you can't afford to get insurance for high work, get cheaper insurance and only take on the work you have cover for.
