Buckingham porty.....

cheers for the pics now i know how to use it. I have to portawraps one like that and a flying capsman or what ever it is. we use the flying thing one at college and it seemed to take the teachers a bit of working out which was very reasurring. but i havent used either of mine yet for my own jobs desperatly wanting to though to try out the rest of my new rigging kit.

whats the general thought of using a ratchet strap to secure it at the base.

I wouldnt recommend a ratchet strap, as they arent tested for side loading, the strength is in the length, not the width. Saying that I have used one when I havent had a long enough strop to reach around the butt, but tied the surplus back over the ratchetting mechanism in case the lever gets flicked up. Better off buying a large whoopie sling tbh.

That 'Flying Capstan' as its sometimes called in the UK is a copy of the original Portawrap 1, designed by Scott Prophet.

And it's very worrying to think your teachers dont know how to work it.

yer your telling me, to be honest college isnt great and if you ask me the teachers who are teaching it should have more experience and qualifications, no offence to any of you if your reading this. but then the whole corse is a bit sh!t i mean today we spent all afternoon shifting horse sh!t now im pretty sure that isnt required to much in our industry. we have also spent more time doing fences this year than any tree work.

Jay I know most of your tutors there, and believe me they SHOULD know this stuff!! I suppose the fencing will come in handy if the tree work dries up around here too. As for shovelling horsey-poo, its training for those skanky gardens when people dont clean up the doggy-poo!!
