Evil evil machine. there are various versions of that on the market. I have seen one with only four teeth on it which is apparently less lethal, but they all scare the hell out of me. But they are very effective.

Have u used one before then and i take it u need a good firm grip to use this then lol ?

Plippy, I got one & used it to partly shape the Moai tikki head that I did. (see thread of same name).

Yes, ya do need to watch what yer doin' with it but as with all the stuff people use on this site, treat with the respect it deserves & you won't go far wrong mate.

Shifts a LOT of wood in no time flat! Gentle sweeping side to side motion gets good results. Hope this helps.:001_smile:

Yes , a firm grip is necessary, and make sure you use the bottom of the blade as it were, as if it catches the top and spins away it can be lethal- kick back stylee. I think the ones with circular saw teeth as opposed to chainsaw teeth is less prone to this. The one you have in your thread is more aggressive hence removes wood faster i think. I am no expert though....:sneaky2::001_smile:

Thinking about getting this one, although twice the price,

Arbortech Industrial Woodcarver : Buy Arbortech Industrial Woodcarver at Axminster Power Tool Centre

They also do a small version which looks as if it could be good

Arbortech Mini Carver : Buy Arbortech Mini Carver at Axminster Power Tool Centre

the second one looks more safer lol, i wasnt that sure wot i was gona buy but i may take it back and av a better look, but the first one u dont need to sharpen, thats why its more expensive, id imgine

do you do much carving, im just gettin in to it
