professional tree inspection course.

Anyone else done this course? I heard from my assessor today that i've passed. I am over the moon and can't wait to see my assessment report. I have to say though it's pretty tough as courses go and I wonder how many companies recognise it. One of the pre-requisites is to have done a level 3 qualification, does this mean that this course is effectively a level 3 qualification, I haven't got a level 3 qualification but have got nearly 8 years experience and obviously have done a lot of self study. I'm hoping to become a tree officer and wonder whether any LA would recognise it conjunction with my current role working as an sub contracted inspector carrying out condition reports for a local authority.

I did the course in sheffield with steve coombes booked through work (the big blue machine called fountains) i think it's around £400ish. unfortunately i failed the assesment first time by 2% but resat with paul smith the arb assoc head guy at their hq and thankfully passed.

I did it last year, I haven't got a level three yet either. If you think you're up to it then they will let you have a go.

This is a grey area Dave.

 

Below is how it was portrayed in '06

So Level 3 was not pre requisite when I took it.

 

"Course members must be experienced in tree inspection, carrying out tree surveys and

making management recommendations. Ideally they should hold a level 3 (NQF)

qualification in arboriculture or be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of technical

knowledge relating to legislation and general arboricultural practice, plant science, fungi,

pests and diseases, tree mechanics, etc. The assessment at the end of the course will include

aspects of these topics and assumes this level of knowledge to be pre -requisite for attending

the course. "

 

 

Although in later specs I have seen it written as Pre-requisite.
