I'm currently milling with an 066 with either 36" standard 3/8 or 42" lo pro.

I've been hankering for an 880 but I'm wondering about getting another 660 to run both powerheads as an alternative.

My main question as I usually work alone is, is it possible to mill with two powerheads with just one operator? Has anyone rigged up a trigger cable that would rev both saws simultaneously?

The power is nuts and the difference between the pushing and the pulling side is huge.

The start and the finish is the bit you would struggle with yourself even if you managed to set up a trigger gizmo.

Also the operators need to work together and you both don't run full tilt, 1 does and the other balances things out when you hit harder or softer wood.

Difficult to explain .

I've worked with 2, 088's on my double mill

Very nice setup Stephen! Certainly couldn't lift that on my own lol.

Interesting to hear your knowledge through experience, I'm not very technically minded but keeping it simple I guess I could limit the throttle on the other end ??

You really need the other person at the other end Si as you do need someone used to milling as well as lifting into the first part of the cut.

When it works well the double ended type set up is fantastic

No prob Si - they are a fiddle to set up I'd say as well and almost if you run a double ended set up you'd want to keep the saws on the mill most of the time (apart from maintenace).

When lifting the saws into place, lift the mill not the handles of the saw! They can't take the extra weight and leverage and you will wreck the anti vibes and things that hold it together!

When working a single mill, I prefer using a rope to pull the saw along! Keeps the vibes down, fumes out your face and away from the saw.

The saw runs nice too and you don't influence the cut which can make marks on the timber, let the saw do its job

Just picking up tips at the moment Stephen, I have a chainsaw mill, but haven't had any time to break it out in anger as yet...

The rope comment interests me - you mean that you operate the saw from the trigger, but instead of pushing the mill with a combination of saw handle and centre handle on the mill, you pull a rope attached somewhere?

I'm not sure I have the right mental picture here, do you have an image or more info?
