Anyone had a anti vibration spring snap for no reason ? I've repaired it by buying spring for £1.77 and easy fix but anyone had this ?

On what? And nothing happens for no reason, there must of been a stress caused somewhere!

AV springs normally snap when saws are thrown around dropped and bashed around in transport. Then a bit of vibration through them finishes them off. They're a wear part really they actually do a lot of work soaking up vibes which must weaken them somewhat.

They snap all the time,should really change them once a year or so.its just doing their job absorbing vibrations which cause metal fatigue eventually

I do confess I usually leave my chainsaws in back of cab not too securely so that probably why now you speak about it but it's not happened ever (spring breaking) so unsure still maybe ?

I think it happens more on modern saws. The vibrations that they're soaking up is immense to get it down to 3m/s at the hands. That engine is around 13000 rpm. Metal gets hot gets cold hot again bashed about and then it snaps. I never broke any on the 346/357 but I've done one on a 550. Saws being blunt and thus leaned on in the cut tends to wear the springs a bit quicker too.

Your level of understanding due to not having the experience before is being overtaken by suspicion imo.

Your saws are rattling around in the back of a cab,maybe it's a plastic liner or maybe you have sat heavier things ontop of the saw.

It happens, well actually it has never happened to me but I secure my saws down and don't put heavy things on them

How do you secure saws down ?? I must be missing a trick !

I haven't sat anything heavy on top of them to be honest

Next time you're cutting just put the thumb of your left hand on top of the top cover and feel what a pummelling it gets and you'll feel a bit more sympathy for the AV spring
