Wholesale softwood firewood Edinburgh

Hi all,

Just took delivery of a Trak-met firewood processor this week with log deck and intend to be pumping out large amounts of softwood firewood.

I will be wholesaling spruce/larch (cut from chipwood that is at least quite dry due to being felled for some time) at £27 a cubic metre loaded loose to whatever bulker/tractor and trailer you choose to send in. I can arrange delivery also.

Might consider wholesaling hardwoods too, but honestly don't really want to.

You are right! The last lot that came in (processed with hired in WP36) were largely around 28-30% with about 10% of the material being nearly fresh as some fresh pulpwood had been mixed in.

Wood wasp - I'm getting the pulp/chip wood in at £35 a tonne delivered in.

£27 per cube seems cheap given cost per ton at roadside in central belt.

Also able to keep the cost down as premises/most of the equipment is paid for by the sawmilling. The firewood is just going to be a hobby really!

I'll get a bit more timber through the processor and do a video/some photos of it. Astonishing value for money - it's semi automatic machine (manual clamp, manual chainsaw pull, push button splitting, either automatic or manual, powered infeed, conveyor out, auto stop on infeed) with a 25t ram, 47cm capacity, 4 and 8 way wedge and heavy duty log deck. Machine weighs 1.7t, is electric and first impressions are very good indeed. Also a lot of change from £10k for the complete set up. Highly recommended!

Trak-Met : Pilarki, Owijarki, Traki : Sawmill machines - Sawmill machines - SAWING-SPLITTING SEMI-AUTOMATIC MACHINE P?D-450 ? 25 TON

I suppose if not delivering then you have substantial time/cost saving, how many cube can go into an artic bulk trailer?

I like the sound of that processor, particularly capacity and splitting force so will have a look on line. I actually work out of Edinburgh sometimes so maybe pop in and see it working at some point if suits?

Not exactly sure on artic bulker capacity. There is a large shale oil 'bing' (spoil heap) next to the yard with 8 wheel bulkers running in and out of it all day and I have a good relationship with the company that manages it, so I was intending to possibly use them for haulage. Should be very inexpensive.

Do pop over to see the machine when you are nearby.

Only interested in doing softwood as I am sure that there are plenty of people doing hardwoods and I am also fairly sure I can be the cheapest on softwood.
