Obviously not a long term test but really rating it .It was in a farm machinery mag. Quote its the ideal saw to have around on the farm, especially as it didn't once grunt at being asked to cut through a 24 " wide tree truck . Its light enough to use all day, while offering the versatility to be the only saw in the farmers shed .Its a good ,straightforward chainsaw . Strong and robust. unquote . They are the closing remarks.

Hi

AFAIK - slightly lighter & better AV than the 290.

The engine is a strato, perhaps a smidge more power - as for reliability time will tell, hopefully its a good update.

Im always wary of any saw being promoted as a farm saw, homeowners saw or landscapers saw...a good quality saw will do whatever is asked of it time and time again...no need for all that specialist saw bollocks

I had a brand new one- which after 6 months was stolen in a break in. I hated it. I found it heavy to use, with no decompressor,it needed a hard tug to start- and after very little use the flippy caps started to play up. I bought a used ms260 and loved it. I definitely would not buy another one!

Yes spend a bit more and buy from the pro-range, the 270/290 are heavy for what they are, this put me off a lot when looking at buying a couple of yrs back. A few more quid would see you into the pro range, less weight, better AV etc.
