i know of 2 mate, both are lying under a bench after breaking under strain, luckily the feller got away with a very big scare and a sore leg, the other was left in a pile of tangled windblow until a turfor was hired. both have been replaced with turfors now. both guys had used my big turfor and thought it was amazing, but they were to miserable to buy one, so they opted for the cheaper version. how i laughed. but in all seriousness they were very lucky

ps, ditch the whoopy sling and buy a big strop double the rating of the winch.

ooo basically what i done then. i properly use a winch once twice a year so i wasnt prepared to spend loads on turfor, so choose cheap option maybe it wasnt my best decision. still should be alright for conifer stumps which is is most the time.

depends on the cosequences mate, if you are pulling out old stumps then worse case scenario is the stump wins, if you are winching a tree away from a house or rd then it is different, i have a cheap ryobi drill/jigsaw and rip saw. it does me fine for pottering about with, i didnt want to spend a fortune on dewalt, but i am not a joiner. i never scrimp on kit for my work, there is no point.

I have 3 tirfors, picked up at machinery sale for next to nothing, complete with cables and they have been invaluable. I can understand your buying a cheaper version, just hope that it doesnt turn out to be a false economy. TBH I havent come across this make, so cant comment on them.

In 16yrs of trading I've only ever had tirfors, or should I say tirfor as I've only ever bought one 16yrs ago, and its as good as the day I bought it.

I use a 10" webbing sling for an anchor as it spreads the load on the anchor tree.

i wasnt putting any strain on anything useing the whoopy sling cause was top of my rigging bag. i was just testing to see how winch works etc when i got home had to test out the new toy. i usually use the 3ton slings for winching.
