what logs have you been chopping today!

We've been felling some trees today. Lots of really nice straight oak and all 40ft+ so it's a treat for us and It's nice to be doing something other than putting logs through the processor.

looks like a nice easy site aswell, and look is that i dry track i see, i haven't seen one of them in ages!!!

Yeah, it's pretty much the perfect site after we took the fence off. That's actually a road but we only had 2 cars pass all day, only downside was we had to sweep it all at the end.

Change of plan. The timber was originally earmarked for planking, but left it too long and degraded. Either going to log it or chip it now, not sure the best option:confused1:

We're going to try and sell some softwood. Hopefully we do sell a bit since it's nice stuff to cut.

havnt been cutting/processing much lately as been busy doing other things, but i did do a few ton of willow last week. how have you guys been getting on and are you still processing a lot of wood

We're still processing here, it is slowing down though. We're buying in a lot of wood at the moment ready for next year but it's up to £58 a ton so we're going to have to put prices up which will mean a few less orders for a bit until they've phoned around and realised everyone's gone up.

Bit jaleous on the machines you all have. I mainly split my wood for our own use and this machine does the work for us relatively fast and cheap, but I'm not splitting wood commercialy.

How far have you all got on next winters supply?

We tend to cut about a month in advance of delivery. We have a 160 boxes that we just fill as they empty, except when we fall behind towards the end of winter. We've just caught back up now.

 

We've got about 900 tons of wood ready to cut, now we just need to sell some more firewood so we can afford to buy more unprocessed in for next winter.
