I have just completed this carving, again im looking to improve and so i would appreciate any feedback

Better than I could do. Doesn't look quite right to me though, should the face be looking towards its feet more?

Thanks Steve, yes you are right, i was using a branch stump from the main piece to carve the head and to utilise fully the wood i had, a mistake to try and make something fit the wood with my novice skills. I will get some decent pieces to carve from oneday perhaps.

On one hand it has a cartoon look about the head, on the other hand it's an absolute work of art, well done👍

My thoughts are that it doesn't look like a serious "professional" carving but it certainly has a great character .... I bet young kids would love it, so maybe worth asking for their thoughts on it?....

Hahahahaha the trouble is i didnt intend to achieve that look i carved an Owl last year and i had the same Harry Potter feedback...... Im carving a Squirrel tomorrow, god knows what character that will turn out like, cheers Steve
