Making up a Chain Loop, Quick Question.

I finally managed to get some 7/16 chain for my old Danarm which consisted of one loop of chain, an extra length of chain and a handful of presets.

The problem I have is that to get the chain the correct length it looks like I'm going to end up with 2 right cutters one after the other rather than a left/right, If I remove the extra right cutter then the chain will be too short, if I put an extra left cutter in it'll be too long as being a 7/16 chain 1 link makes a significant difference to the overall length. It looks like I'll have to go for it as there doesn't seem to be any way around it and I can't exactly walk into a shop and buy a different bar.

I've seen this before on a chain but wondered if it's commonplace, less than ideal or totally frowned upon.

Its normal as you say on some . 14" MS200t for example . I use it as a convenient marker for starting and finishing sharpening .

My Dynamac 16" chains come with 2 cutters the same and I find that useful like you to mark your start point.
