Timberwolf 230Vtr winch problem.

Evening all, we've got a timberwolf 230vtr with a warrior S8000 winch connected direct to the starter motor was fitted from the dealer when we purchased the chipper, problem is when using it, it will cut the engine out even on full revs pulled two Sycamore 2 metre Lengths about 5 metres today fine, then cut out several time when tried pulling the next wasn't a heavy load??? Any ideas? Thanks Scott.

can you rewire it to the battery ??

Some winches have a thermo cut out. If they get hot, they will stop working until they have teach an acceptably temperature. If the dealer fitted it that way around then perhaps they ought to be involved with alterations to preserve your warranty.

I will mention it to them before doing anything as I had to pay them to fit it.

Hi Scott, make sure both positive and negative run back to the battery. I think the battery neg lead is normally attached to the engine on these, so it doesnt earth to the frame very well.

You could test with some jump leads if you wanted to try it before getting extension cables.

Is it cutting out the winch motor or the actual chipper diesel engine?

Hi Jim,

 

It's cutting out the chipper diesel engine it re starts ok then cuts out once you start pulling in, both the postive and negative are attached to the starter motor!
