Can someone recommend a few books to learn tree science etc from so I can learn some more before i start an Arb course

I think the best single book is Peter Thomas's Trees: Their Natural History. £8 on Amazon. A really good introduction but quite a lot of depth too.

I plan on keeping it up for as long as I am able to (which means for as long as I have my books, my (in)sanity, and internet access). Between here and my blog, I tend to post up some of my old assignments - at least, parts of them. Churning through fungal colonisation and principal decay fungi right now and there's no way I won't be using the stuff I have written for posts in the future, as I really did trawl through resources for this assignment. 15,000 words for crying out loud.

My name is indeed Chris, by the way. Much easier than saying Kveldssanger, but not as easy as writing OP.

OP might not need to b uy a book if 'Chris' (didn't know he had a real name) keeps up the fact of the day thread.

Ooops, sorry Chris if I've spoiled your anonymity, but I can never remember how to spell Kveldssanger.

I can definitely envisage you writing a book somewhere in the future:biggrin:
