I would go for the saw at thiggy price you can't tell the difference to be honest between the older model the old model top speed was 13,500 the new model

Is 12,800 the muffler on the dolmar 7900 was more or less a empty box the new muffler is SLR scavenging . Loss. Recirculation but there isn't a Kat in there

A good quality chain would make more difference between the two :thumbup:

So now I am wondering if you can open the muffler up and remove the Gubbins to bring the power up? Thanks :001_smile:

Looks like the Makitas take the Huskvarna spec Oregon bars. Can someone confirm this is the case?

The 7900 family use the "large Husky" (D009),

the current 5 and 6000 series saws use the "small Husky" (K095),

the smaller saws (including the 420/421) use the K041 mount.

Hi Doobop, that's what I wanted to hear! Haha. How are you getting on with the saw in general, anything to look out for/be aware of?

The way they are made at the moment I don't think anyone can touch them I've had many huskys and stihls but makita are top right now I've had them for 7 years now

Only thing I've found with Makita/Dolmar saws that is irritating is that they seem to throw the surclip that holds the sprocket on. Both the DCS7901 and the PS6100.

I have never had that with the 5 saws I've had
