Crowlopping is what caused the problem in the first place

 

Are you saying that the wound was a past branch failure/fracture that was excessively pruned beyond the branch collar?

A branch close to 1m diameter was removed at around 5m. A few other smaller limbs were also removed and there is some coalescents (is that how you spell it) of the decay column

Just a thorough mallet thump and climbing inspection. A friend of mine inspected the tree as a second opinion. The 1st report reccomended felling.

 

It wasn't that much fun pruning it. Almost every branch got hung up and I'm not as gibbon like as I once was. Trying to envisage the final form and pruning every other branch was a bit tricky, but I hope one of my other guys will finish it next winter.
