Jefferson 10" Miter Saw?

Well thanks for the input fellers! Its always a head scratcher finding the optimum tool. I might go check out the Jefferson today. I was boxed in the hardware store but maybe I can induce them to unbox it for me....If I do buy it I'll be the first to upload a video review. Had a look the the rage in the workshop of a friend but didn't try a cut as he wasn't around. Looks solid, to be fair. The two things the Jefferson have over it is the Jeff is a double bevel, and 30mm arbour, which all blades seem to be around here. I have three Lidl 30mm ten inch blades for a tenner each, never opened, and as has been mentioned, the Rage requires 1" arbour proprietary blades, which are good, but pricy.

Elu stuff is great, you can pick it up second hand for really low prices and you can still get the spares.

 

You should be able to get a press in reducer to go from 30mm - 1". I think Axminster or Trend Cutters do them.

Forget about the Evolution if it's the one from screwwfix, I bought one but read a few reviews about the outfeed/infeed tables in relation to the turntable, checked mine and found that the tables weren't square to the blade so impossible to cut accurate mitres. Returned it and the salesman checked another one which had the same fault so got a refund. I decided to save for something like a Makita.

the old electra bekham mitre saw is the best ive ever used, a very accurate saw and not a piece of plastic in sight.

used a lot of the new bling type machines and there not a patch on the bekham.

 

put a aluminium cutting blade in it and you get the finest cut ever, no feathering of the wood your cutting.

 

Elektra Bekum is Metabo now, still a good make for power tools. Electra Beckham would be a good name for David and Posh if they had a girl

i use a second hand dewalt saw (dw708)on the long mitre bench and would not swap it for anything else. i've been cutting 6"x6" beech this afternoon for my skittles (turning the beam over of course) and will go through a 4 1/2" thickness and 12" wide
