Dolmar 9010, Users Opinions Wanted

I was about to buy a makita or Dolmar 9010, actually did a deal with the Germans on ebay,best offer, but couldn't get him to give me the price less VAT even though I sent him my registration number.Husqvarna had a good discount on that Friday deal a fortnight ago, so bought a 395xp. I would compare buying a Husqvarna to a JCB3CX excavator, other makes might perform better, and be cheaper to buy. But when it comes to parts ,there's so many pattern parts out there that makes long term ownership so much more affordable.

I've just posted in another thread about these very two saws. I've had the 9010 and now got an Echo 8002. I would pick the 8002 because it's lighter but definately not a whole 10cc down in power terms than the 9010. Plus it's got a manual as well as auto oiler.

Our 8002 is on a 28"; sounds amazing, pulls the bar well in hardwood.

Both are old school, tonka tough. Very hard call despite them not being in the same cc class.

I have a suspicion that the Dol 9010 goes better than the Mak 9010 - Shavey will confirm or otherwise any differences.

As others have said - sprocket nosed bar is essential...

Well I have the CS-701 that will be replaced by the CS-8002 or 9010, also;

Husqvarna 137E

Echo CS-450ES

Echo CS-360TES

I'm tempted by the CS-8002 on the basis that I already have Echo saws but tempted by the Dolmar as I'd hate to be one of those guys who have only ever used one make and think everything else is rubbish in spite of the fact that they've never held a saw from another brand let alone tried it.

Not that you'd find anyone like that on here :001_tt2:

No opinions yet on the Stihl? maybe that needs a thread of it's own.

im a husky/jonsered man for saws,but prefer stihl for hedge cutters and blowers,its all about personal choice really, all are good/bad in their own right,see if you can have a try with the big dolmar and the echo before you buy,i think you would be more than pleased with either

I have a DCS 9010 (the Makita strain) and I'm not entirely convinced by it. It is still on the solid nose, I'll admit, but it's had a few repairs required (oiler screw on warranty and more recently the bar studs stripped and required replacing).

I think to give it a fair chance, I need to get a sprocket nose on it.

I went for the big dolly 9010 on a 28. It is a big saw, heavy but then relatively they all are. The point is though its far cheaper than the husqy and stihl, if your using occasionally then the thought of spending less may help your thought process. Shavey offers a great and tested back up service. I would buy Dolmar through Shavey again so buy with confidence. Do the changes which are sorted before you get the saw and off you go, happy days. 660 revs higher judging by the noise but the dolmar still cuts uick enough as its linear torque you get instead of screaming its nuts off. Not had the need for skips as yet. Hope this helps
