Yes, the front left hand tyre ,while sitting on the seat, is on backwards.

 

The front axle is not driven on these tractors. Therefore to achieve the self cleaning effect of the tractor tyre tread they should be mounted "backwards"; as they would be on a landwheel driven machine. So to be pedantic the front left is in fact mounted correctly.

Well i remember as a kid going around a corner in my fathers lorry in in the passangers seat in the late 70's to see one of these parked accross the forestry road set up as a highlead winching some big larch down a steep slope, i remember chuckling to myself saying what sort of a contraption is this as it seemed pretty slow moving.

 

This will have been what you spotted, albeit this one has skyline set up also.

 

High leading is actually fairly fast way of getting timber off a short slope, setting up a skyline is different matter. particularly one like attached image where the skyline is tightened by tirfor winch and tractor jacked up with drum on wheel winding it in once finished.
