I reckon that you should try to get one from holland, where they are assembled, as it would be cheaper on import duty, and if you can pay vat on it over there it should be cheaper again, being an EU member state.

You spoken to Jamie at B-Trac?

The trouble with buying chippers in the states is that unless you buy one near the shipping port, the overland haulage can be extremely expensive. Then add the transatlantic shipping costs, the import duty, the lading costs, and a possible visit out there to view, and the fact that the $ is high against the £ these days... The savings can end up being marginal at best.

Thats not to say it cant be done, but if you can source one in europe, you'll have an easier time of it.

Stu, pricey no doubt, but well worth the money imo. That chipper is awesome and the back up service from vermeer uk is outstanding.

The trade-in deal I got to replace my previous 1000 has made me a customer for life. I know this doesn`t help answer your question but I thought I`d mention it.

got any details? I only heard it 2nd hand...

I talked to them at the AA, can't remember the details, but if I recall correctly you could always have a chipper that was no more than 3 years old with full back up for around £3K per year.
