Not sure what you mean bro. I read you worried about damaging your tirfor cable? I have a 1.5m chain, with a master link at one end and a sliding choker hook at the other. The chain chockers onto itself, then the master link (big oval ring) is grabbed by the tirfor's hook.

second that

that's what i'd do :thumbup1:

I was thinking of using a sliding keyhole on the tirfor wire rope.... the choker chain is dropped through the keyhole and the length of the choker can be adjusted by how far you drop it through the keyhole.

See here: Sliders | Clark Forest : Logging Equipment

A big oval ring sounds simpler though.

if you want to shorten the chain add a grab hook below the master link

job done

ah! Cunning plan!.... thinking about it, what if I didn't have a hoop (master link). Would it be considered bad practice to make a loop at the end of the choker chain by using a clevis hook, like this: Clevis Grab Hook At The Ratchet Shop

...or would that be bad for wearing the chain links?

cheers, steve

I would be extremely careful to follow industry standards re. the assembly of your system, as you're gonna be tugging on it with a tensioned wire rope. If you rig up a heath-robinson and it comes undone....could find yourself in the "hurt locker"...

So much great info on the web about chains and stuff, really addictive when you get into it.
