Gardening rate per hour?

I've bin doin Gardening jobs for years and never charge by the hour..

 

The variables employed are how much hassle is the job likely to be, how long is it likely to take, and a bit of what I think I might get away with..

 

That way I can turn up crack on and move to the next job without looking at a damned watch..

 

 

For once I agree with most of what you have written.

People don't like £25 an hour for hedge cutting but will happily pay £100 for a four hour cut

I started out charging by the hour and found some customers would be time watching and a bit shirty if you finished early. Now as above now charge by the job and got rid of the shirty customers. I have a minimum charge and let people know that up front. Some people will always want to shop around so let them and move on.
