Hi,

It may have been said already but there should be some numbers stamped on the bar one of which will be the number of drive links. I can see it stamped on Stihl but not the Ozaki, may be on other side.

You may also be aware that bar length isnt the overall length, but that measured from the holes for the chain tensioner.

hope this helps sort it

The attached chart shows that a Stihl 028 running a 16 inch Ozaki Pro Steel bar needs a chain with 67 drive links. I have just posted one to you. Once it arrives, can you post me your 62 drive back thanks and let me know how you get on.

The website for the chart is here.

Thanks Logit much appreciated, The only thing on the Ozaki bar are 'R40' and 'C15'. The smaller 16" stihl bar says 67 links and the bigger 18" stihl bar says 68 links. strange, the bigger bar is about half an inch longer but the slot for the bar bolts sits further back, but i'm sure its not a full 2" longer from casing to tip.

Bar length should be measured from the front of the saw case to the top of a cutter at the tip.

R40 means it is an Ozaki type R 40cm bar which would mean the bar model number is 170-2109.

That will indeed fit your 028 & will require a 67 link, .325 pitch, .063 gauge chain.

You should be up and running soon, the consensus now is that you need a 67 drive link chain and it should be with you soon, let us know how you get on....

thanks folks it will be good to have the 028 up and running again. now does anyone have an 028av early model, the all alloy body one they would strip or sell? I have one, its a runner but the chain brake mechanism is missing as are a few other parts, some parts I can buy, some I can't. thanks again
