why no Husqvarna pattern parts

hey folks it seems there are plenty of non oem piston and barrel kits for stihl but why not for Husqvarna? There is a guy on ebay with a 550xp that's down on compression, 99p starting bid and no takers so far. Nice saw but I've just been quoted £411 for a new piston and pot, genuine Husqvarna parts but not through a Husqvarna dealer, asked the guy if they could get pattern parts but he said no chance? Surely there must be a factory in china cashing in on this gap in the market?

Tried to look for a Meteor Piston ? They are OEM quality . You may be able to save the pot . Check Spuds threads for how to restore the OEM pot .

The China factories can't compete with the cheap low quality oem parts so don't bother...

The Chinese will bring out aftermarket kit once a market has established on a certain saw type. They will not tool up until they know there is a requirement for non OEM parts. This will generally be when the saw is a few years old and the OEM parts make repair too expensive.

 

You can get aftermarket pistons for most of the 3 series saws and some 5 series saws now.

 

If the pot isn't badly damaged, you should be able to salvage it and then just fit a new piston. You really need to know why it failed and also the software/firmware should be reset/updated as it may have been running lean causing the failure.

 

Lots of pics on my thread showing before and after cylinder salvage. Some were really quite bad and always gives me satisfaction after the cleaning process reveals a nice bore finish again:thumbup:

thanks for the answer guys, just couldn't understand why its so easy to get stihl parts and not Husqvarna, someones missing a trick.
