200T Bar and chain combo

I'm still using my good old stihl ms200t as its still going strong so have no need to replace it (brought just before the 201 came out!)

I've always run it on a 14" bar with stihl 3/8 050 chain. But i'm now thinking of changing to running a 12" bar with 3/8 043 low pro chain.

I'm just wandering is it worth it or should i just stick to my current set up? I don't do many big take downs so I rarely use all 14inches! and a bit less weight to carry around would be nice!

 

Its either that or i buy a 150t with a 10" bar....????

I went from using 14's to 12's and find it does perform ever so slightly better when buried in wood

Oh and I've recently bought a 150. I used it properly the other day pruning 3 sycamores and absolutely loved it. It's on a 10" too

Did you use low pro chain as well? I would have thought that would make quite a difference but i can't speak from experience.

If I'm completely honest I don't know the difference!! I just ask for a 12" stihl chain for a 201t

Have a 200t & t540xp both on 12" bars. Prefer them for chasing cuts. 14" slows them down too much, I would rather have a bigger saw passed up.

Do you notice the weight difference a lot?

Better balanced on a 12" seems nose heavy on a 14". Just my opinion

I had a 12 on my first 020, then 14 on all my subsequent saws. I'd never put a 12 inch on again, waste of power IMO.
