I think it's all about give and take.

 

Some of his lads set off on Sunday afternoon/evening so they don't have to get up at silly o'clock on Monday morning, some stay at home on Sunday and have a long day on Monday. The lads that normally go on Sunday take most of the gear with them. He pays their digs money for the Sunday but they don't get the extra £50. They are normally back early afternoon on Friday.

 

This is mainly through the summer, they drop back on winter maintenance for the local council later in the year.
