Ive got three of the wilkinson sword (branded Fiskars) ones in the shed all dead. They are great but its very easy to bite off more than it can chew and bugger it. I also use if for the little odd annoying bits on conifer hedge reductions as its a lot lighter than a hedge cutter. Still got one working but I should be able to make my dead three into one good one.

Little tip, a customer of mine recently told me he buys his from b and q or homebase or similar and they come with a lifetime warranty, when his breaks he takes it back in and they give him another brand new one. He pays £70-80 instead of the £35 I pay from the wholesaler but his method is a lot cheaper in the long run. Next time I need one it will be from there.

I've taken stuff back to b&q and they've said it's not their problem, send it back to the manufacturer, they guaranteed it, not b&q.

Just had a google and it looks like b&q do have the lifetime warranty!

Well, all I can say his looked brand new. I asked if he had just bought it and he said it was the third one that had been replaced under warranty. No questions.

Maybe the policy varies store to store.

That's excellent 👍

I've just had a bit of a result. Just looked at my email and I've got a reply from fiskars, they're sending me the bit I need through the post :) I was expecting to have to pay for it because I was honest and said that id lost it and could I buy a replacement, but looks like I'm getting it for free! That's good of them isn't it 👍

Just read this again and i'm pretty sure that's illegal.

When you buy something your contract is with the supplier, not the manufacturer.

It is the suppliers responsibility to deal with the complaint and then re claim the cost from the manufacturer.

Just found this, the most pertinent bit I've pasted below.

How to get a faulty product replaced or repaired - Which?

"TOP TIPS

Contact the retailer - your contract is with the retailer and not the manufacturer

Cite your rights under the Consumer Rights Act

Don’t be fobbed off - you can always take the retailer to the small claims court"

How have they broken?

I checked the fiskars website and it says there's not a lifetime warranty in Europe, just the US?

Do you have a spare quick release part from where they extend 😀

As far as I'm aware they do have a lifetime warranty, firstly it said it all over my packaging and secondly when one of mine broke and I took it back they gave me a new one and actually told me it had a manufactures lifetime guarantee
