Dolmer 6100 + 15" guide

Hey guys,

I just took ownership of an 18" Dolmer 6100 from Shavey - great guy to deal with btw

Now, I'm starting my journey into arboriculture and I'm taking my cs30/31 at the end of Oct... I'd like to use the Dolmer for the course but the max. guide bar I can use is 15" — pretty standard as far as I can see — otherwise it's use the colleges own.

Is it possible to fit the smaller bar & chain? If so, is it just a case of gauge and pitch?

Any recommendations on where to get them, and are there shared parts with Husky / Stihl?

Kev

The saw may of course become rear heavy with a light 15" bar on it. How people like that balanse will of course vary.

There is of course nothing wrong with trying!

Depending on what you usually use, you may want to try a larger sprocket rim with that setup, specially for limbing.

Good evening Kev

The 6100 has a K095 mount so you have a wide range of choices that mount is popular the bar and chain on that saw is 3/8 058 gauge

Options

Sugihara 15""

Dolmar. 15"

Husqvarna 15"

I like buying the husqvarna bars and let the dolmar chew them up :lol:

That is true it does make it a bit back heavy but not as much as you would think

It is well balanced on a 18" on a 20" it feels even better

The 6100 is heavier and shorter but wider than the 560 and its front handle is right on top of the exhaust manifold

I have tried a 8- tooth sprocket and a 15" 3/8 050 bar and chain and it is fast

Personally I would stay with the 7- pin for a training course :thumbup:

Cheers for that Shavey, I am leaning toward the Sugihara 15" 10 tooth... Dunno why but I'm a sucker for Japanese craft. :confused1:

If i'm not comfortable with the balance of the 15" bar it's just for the CS cert so no biggy

If you go larger than an 8 pin sprocket a standard chain loop wont fit . Also with a 10 you will loose most of the torque and it will bog in the cut . I would stay with an 8 or a 7 .
