Stihl 042av I have a Stihl 042av chainsaw that I now need a replacement pot and piston, I unfortunately lent this to a friend so he could prune a tree in his garden, he told me that he had to cut of about 6 branches, so I topped up the fuel and oil knowing that it would cut the small amount of branches without the need for extra fuel. So having completed his job he then decided to do me a favor and cut up the branches to logs fro my wood burner, well the saw ran out of fuel, you can guess what happened next.

So now i need a replacement pot and piston, has any body any idea where I can get these, I've used the normal suppliers but these are no longer made and spares are like hen's teeth.

And this and the guys H&S is why I never lend saws out.

 

Have a look on eBay, if you can't find anything on there then good luck! The cylinder can probably be saved and can do this relatively cheaply for you if you like, the piston may need to be aftermarket!
