Anyone else had this? Just looked at bank statement and it shows £1 for Tesco pay at pump! Since minimum fuel delivery is 2 litres I can't have put such a small amount in and wouldn't anyway. A quick google says they take it to check your card and then refund it - no refund showing! What on earth next...

The supermarkets are killing off the smaller garages. If you look round any town now and compare it to 20 or 30 years ago - how many petrol-providing garages have gone?

I always try to fill up at a small local garage and will happily spend 1 or 2p a litre more.

That is 50p -£2 depending on how empty the tank is BUT it saves going to a supermarket, it saves me queuing up and it will (hopefully) maintain a bit of competition.

Remember the threads about supermarkets getting high and mighty about filling of combi cans? Never had that with most of my local garages.

Yes,I have a thing about the big supermarkets, they screw the suppliers something rotten, they provide what gives them the biggest profit margins NOT what people would buy given the choice. The details of my loathing really belong in another thread so I'll stop there.

I'm no fan either, hate Tesco in particular but not got an extra 90 minutes to go burning more fuel to buy better or more ethical fuel.

Anyway, the £1 thing...

I'm not advocating going out of your way to avoid supermarkets, just fill up when you are passing a local 'real' garage.

Funny how lots of people on here slag off customers for going for the cheapest quote rather than quality then they fill up at Tesco or Sainsburys because..........
