Err lets see...

No significant changes in soil level?.............check

Avoid compaction of rooting area?.........check

Tree Protection zones correct diameter and fenced off sturdily?.............check!

Why is it that when they brought out BS 5837 they only told arborists?

I always think the client is getting ripped off in these circumstances. Even if they don't care much about trees, this happens and then along the line the client ends up having to pay for the tree removal. Is it to much to expect of everyone involved to take the necessary care to ensure survival.

I see this sort of thing on a regular basis, the architect produces fabulous drawings with the mature trees amongst the new development, selling the aesthetics of the grand design and the poor client ends up with dead and dying trees several years on.

Has anyone actually written an AMS to say that they will oversee the protective barriers and then gone on to do so?

The whole planning procedure appears to be a box-ticking/ass covering exercise to me....

Rant over, I feel better getting that off of my chest:biggrin:
