Marine ply for the arched sections and nest boxes, treated roof joists for the long sections, galvanised mesh, black metal hinges & catches all from Wilkinsons, galvanised staples, exterior wood stain/ paint from Wilkinsons. The curved tin sheet was from Freecycle.... got loads of it. Corrugated tin sheet could also work well because it would give good ventilation.

Think that's about it Jon.

cheers

oh, and it'll hold 6 birds without them getting grumpy. We free range ours quite a bit as well.

The coop is open floored and we move it regularly so we don't have to clean it very often.

We also peg a strip of fencing mesh around the outside so it's harder for anything that want to tunnel under.

40x40 for six birds is more than enough john. You could half if and it would still be good. But if you've got the space the more the better. You'll get less bickering and the grass will survive longer lol.

I've got 3 bantams, 1 light sussex, 1 barnavelder and a ginger which i can never remember the breed. I keep them in an old rabbit hutch and have a run for them but most of the time they've got free range over the garden. No problems with foxes yet. Never seen one in our garden but the neighbour is always seeing one. We've got a dog too so i'm hoping thats enough to keep them away.
