Tipper Ram mounting someone help please

I've got hold of a 3 way tipper ram cheap all working with pump but cant work out how to mount it to my chassis any help would be great i only want it to tip backwards.

 

As the ram goes down should the ram pivot to lie flat?

It depends on the ram and the vehicle mount point. If it's been fitted to a 3 way tipper the chances are that it has been positioned pointin straight up off the chassis when closed/shut - and is probably a multi stage short closed ram.You need to make sure that it won't foul on the propshaft during suspension travel and that it will tip the bed to a steep enough angle to ensure that it actually works as a tipper. There's a bit to think about!

It would never be completely horizontal, it wouldn't be able to lift the body at all.

 

Vertical is best for getting the most lift, but it could start from any angle.

 

If it's a trunnion mount with a ball and socket fitting on top then it's designed to start from horizontal. However you fit it make sure the body doesn't rest on the ram in the fully lowered position, when it comes down the body should rest on the subframe and the ram should retract another 25mm or so.
