Ms 261 muffler

How do you remove the muffler on this saw?

I've got 026's and they just hex bolt off, my mates 261 is not playing and I suspect old fuel may have cooked it. Said I'd take a look but not sure how to get the exhaust off 😏

You will find those little round things on the front of the exhaust prise off and are in fact cover plugs over the traditional holes that the bolts are in.

 

Just get a small sharp screwdriver in there and prise off both of those covers:thumbup:

Workshop manual says not to reuse them but if they are not mangled to death I would.

Might be worth getting some new ones just incase :001_rolleyes:

Don't understand the need to make life more complicated, what was wrong with the older style mufflers? Easy to remove and no disposable parts!!
