It's a struggle to juggle -so this summer I'm not even bothering.

 

Childcare is an issue for us, there are a lot of days over the six weeks when I can't work unless I want to work weekends, which I don't. Frustrating, but on the plus side I get to spend more time with the kids and potter about at home or up at the unit with them doing odd jobs. Try to get a list of jobs ready that kids don't cause problems with - like wood splitting or decorating.

 

BTW like your work on your face book site - perhaps I should resurrect my woodworking skills from school - that's something I could do at home. Unfortunately, I have precious little talent to start from.

It's a balancing act I find, I've got two girls and through half term it's week one week off with their mum. One lives with me now so in fact I have her all the time as she only wants to see her mum on weekends through half term then every other weekend when at school.

We find it really hard Ian. I have a seven year old daughter and twins aged five. My parents help out, my wife only works two days a week and we have a childminder who has the kids on those two days. Personally I find it very hard to look after the kids before I go to work, I can't concentrate on two things at once. When the twins were babies I had a couple of years when I didn't earn anything much, just enough to make ends meet. I was helping out at home all the time. I think everyones the same - struggling to balance it all
