It would be easier to find the Holy Grail than the perfect Arb Truck, Lord knows we have all tried. My money if I had any is still on an RB44 or a Mog.

I have wondered if the Russians do a 3.5t truck. Their Kamaz trucks win the Paris Dakar and are built like tanks.

tbh if i was on the hunt fer a replacement arb truck i wouldn't limit myself to this 3.5 ton malarky. I'd be looking at the older shaped 4x4 merc sprinter tippers (4 wheels on the rear axle) 4.6 ton gross, rear difflock, centre difflock and crawler gears. Used to drive one fer a utility arb outfit here in Devon but it had a mewp on the chassis instead of a tipping body. Or one of those Iveco 4x4's. The problem with some of this kit is it's very hard to locate/buy and spares can be tricky to get. Dunno what reliability is loike either but seeing as it's a Merc i'd be hopeful !

Hino, Toyota, Isuzu or Mitsubishi for light trucks imo

I rate our Isuzu it is a good truck carries the weight well, pulls well, turning circle is amazing and has been pretty reliable... But, I don't think I would get another. We took ours to a Isuzu dealer as its not been going into 4th gear, it needs a new sycromesh or something, around £1000. But the dealer told us, if they have the parts in italy it would be a few days but it might take 4-6 weeks to get the parts from Japan.. That is surely not acceptable... Luckily they had the parts in Italy but most iveco, land rover and transit bits will arrive next day.

I wouldn't touch one with a barge pole, Nissan really have let themselves down by getting into bed with renowned French rubbish Renault.

Hi

Even the French don't like Renault, awful cars unless you're lucky enough to own a 'good one' that hasn't broken down yet!

Nissan cabstar 4.5 ton 4x4 it's like a modern day land rover forward control. Shame we can t get them here.

I ve got a 3.5 t cabstar put the same rear springs as the 4.5ton version and some great winter all terrain tyres all rd it's near to the perfect arb truck for me at least for now. Tows great and carries weight brilliantly.
