Saws? Ms180/husky 135 or ms150c

Recommended Posts

Trying to get some savings by for a carving set up.

Trying to figure out the choice of a small stihl or husky, then change bar, chain and sprocket or buy the stihl ms150c

The way I see it the 150c is around £580 ready to go and the others are at least £200 then £150 of bar, chain and sprocket?

So many shiny tools to buy.

The ms150 is a fine detail saw, use it with sugi hara R7 tip carving bar. It's a little under powered for a standard carving bar. You'll be better to get the 180/ 135 as your main detail saw.

Thanks I figured the 180/135 would also make useable second saw with a normal bar and chain

Thanks for those links, how are the echos for carving?

Absolutely brilliant.

I now have 3 (280, 352, 390) and am thinking of adding a 360 :001_smile:

I see you're in Kent. You are welcome to come along and try them.

Birchington. Halfway between Herne Bay and Margate from you.

CS390ESX is a very good saw IMHO. Power of a 45cc saw, but smaller and lighter. Mine's still running in at present (all Echo's take a while to reach their full potential) but impressed already.:thumbup:
