I'll keep noting them down and the ten most common mentioned ones are the ones I'll concentrate on then work my way down the list.

 

While learning the names I would also learn 3-4 arboriculutral significances for each one which may take a little longer but should be easier to remember as a bundle and will also help identify them as you will know host trees etc.

Open to everyone, including those who know nothing about fungi - a fungi ID book will be provided! Examine the samples provided and identify each within the given time. There will be 2 tiers of competition, with and without the book, so why not have a go.:001_smile:

Learn to recognise the fruit bodies and their colonisation strategy and mode of decay...

 

you may like to add these more coniferous based examples to your expanding list:

 

Phaeolus schweintzii

Heterobasidion annosum

Sparassis crispa

Have you seen Sparassis Geoff.

 

We don't get a lot of coni here in London, so one I'm nay too familiar with it.

 

 

Do you know if it's mycorrhizal like Podocypha, or as

I've seen suggested at AIE etc, pathonogenic?
