Im amazed at some of the loads been suggested there accidents waiting to happen. If a log comes off a load and goes through a windscreen its not going to end well. To the person saying its got to be a dark night shame on you no wonder firewood merchants get a bad name.:sneaky2:

 

Believe me your insurance company would hang you out to dry and would only pay what you couldn't so would strip all assets both personal and business.

 

Any bags going out of my yard are covered and loose loads are in a caged trailer never closer than 12 inchs to the top.

I generally level load my trailer and then drive fast down the bumpy track from the wood, if nothing come out driving off road it should be fine on the road!

 

Some of the pot holes round here make it worse than a forestry track

Yeah I do agree it's not best practice. My trailer has a ramp on the back so no wood can come out the back only the sides. I will get a cargo net before firewood season starts.
