Prunus spp

Any Ideas as to what kind of Prunus this might be, i came when leave were not out and genuinely had no idea, no I'm back i can see the lenticels on the leaf petiole. but short of Prunus thats all i can ID. interested to know what it might be.

I took down a "Prunus SPP" yesterday, it was the subject of a tpo and permission was granted for it to come down.

 

When I got there it was a 25ft high bay laurel

 

Did it actually say 'spp'? That makes no sense at all. spp means more than one species so you couldn't apply it a single tree!!! That's before you even get into the misidentification.
