Prunus spp

Any Ideas as to what kind of Prunus this might be, i came when leave were not out and genuinely had no idea, no I'm back i can see the lenticels on the leaf petiole. but short of Prunus thats all i can ID. interested to know what it might be.

Looks like Bird Cherry - Prunus padus

Yes the racemes are the give away aren't they. Terrible. I was hoping that it was something more exotic.

There are a couple others on here being caught out by prunus at this time of year. So I don't feel too bad.

Is the Pub name a bit of a give away

I took down a "Prunus SPP" yesterday, it was the subject of a tpo and permission was granted for it to come down.

 

When I got there it was a 25ft high bay laurel

Yes the racemes are the give away aren't they. Terrible. I was hoping that it was something more exotic.

 

The habit for me is the give away plus the denseness of the canopy. Cant see from the pics but the trunk will be a very dark colour also.

Did it actually say 'spp'? That makes no sense at all. spp means more than one species so you couldn't apply it a single tree!!! That's before you even get into the misidentification.
