I'd go for the chainsaw option too. Out on a job, you can usually sort out a dull/damaged chain whereas you'd have to carry an extra, potentially very expensive saw blade with you as an emergency spare if you hit a stone/wire/whatever.

Depends on the timber.Nice,clean,straight lengths plate steel blade- not as 'snatchy' as T.C.T blade and less kerf than chainsaw.On twisty old coppice oak chainsaw seems safer.

I reckon it depends on your age. I'm 40 and want a easier quieter working day so I use a chainsaw processor. Like others on here, I started on a McConnel and maul and worked up from there. IMO the Hakki Pilke Eagle is overpriced for what it is and it would be best stretching to something bigger.

Id go blade every time not chain. I cut over 900 ton last year and im just having my blade set,sharpened and 6 carbide tips put on. £ 15 to have it sharpened and set and £ 2.15 each for a tip. The only thing that lets a blade down is if it gets hot (timber rubs one side while cutting) the blade will warp while it expands and wobles like buggery! Mine makes tones off bloody saw dust so what a chain would be like i dred to think!
